Escrow Terms (v1)
Please read these terms carefully before using our platform. They govern your relationship with IdeaKoi and your use of our services.
Welcome to IdeaKoi. These Terms describe how escrow works for a purchase on our Platform, and govern your use of our website, mobile application, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using IdeaKoi, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Platform.
How a purchase works
When you buy an idea listing on Akoi, your payment does not go straight to the seller. It is held by the platform in escrow for an inspection window of **3 days** after payment succeeds. During that window you have full access to the seller's asset files, exactly as if the sale were already final.
What happens at the end of the window
If you take no action during the 3-day window, the funds are released to the seller automatically and the sale is treated as final. If you raise a dispute before the window closes, release is paused until the dispute is resolved.
Raising an issue
If the idea you received does not match what was listed, or the files are missing, corrupted, or materially different from the description, you can open a dispute from your purchase history at any point before the escrow window closes. Opening a dispute pauses your access to the files until the dispute is resolved, because a live download during an active dispute would let evidence keep changing after the fact. Once you open a dispute, the seller has an opportunity to respond. An admin reviews both sides — including the exact listing and files as they existed at the moment you paid, and a record of when the files were downloaded and by whom — and decides the outcome: a full refund to you, a full release to the seller, or a split between the two. The admin's decision, and the reason for it, is shared with both parties.
What happens if nobody acts
Timeouts always resolve in favor of forward motion, never silence:
• If you open a dispute and the seller does not respond within the seller's
response window, the dispute resolves as a full refund to you.
• If the seller responds and you do not act within your review window, the
dispute resolves as a full release to the seller. Every automatic resolution like this is recorded as an automatic resolution, with the timeout stated as the reason — it is never applied silently.
Chargebacks
You always retain the right to dispute a charge directly with your card issuer (a "chargeback"), independent of anything described above, at any point after your purchase — including after the escrow window has closed and funds have already been released to the seller. If your bank rules in your favor, the platform absorbs the loss and may recover it from the seller separately; you are not asked to choose between an in-platform dispute and your card network's own dispute rights.
Commission
The platform takes a commission on every completed sale. The commission rate is shown to you before you pay, as part of the price you are charged, and is separate from anything described above.
Historical purchases
Purchases made before this escrow policy took effect were made under an earlier, final-sale policy (recorded internally as `v0-final-sale`). This document describes the policy that applies to every purchase made from the point this version took effect onward.
